User Guide
This guide is a terminal CLI reference, so its workflow examples use the primary specstamp command. When working inside Codex, use the matching $sdlc-* skill instead; for example, use $sdlc-next, not specstamp next. Claude Code uses /sdlc-*. The codex-sdlc command remains a compatible terminal entry point for existing scripts.
Start a new project
Use specstamp init-plain outside a Git repository.
Bring an existing project into the workflow
- Run
specstamp initfrom the project root. - Follow
specstamp nextto create or identify the current DRAFT. - Archive original material with
specstamp material DRAFT-001 --title "Requirements" --type requirement --file requirements.md. - Import structured discussion results with
specstamp discuss --file discussion.json.
Archive existing requirements, technical plans, designs, and screenshots before splitting work. SpecStamp preserves original content and hashes.

A coding agent generates structured JSON; the CLI validates, identifies, and stores it deterministically.

Completion evidence includes the command, integer exit code, result, source file, and original SHA-256 value.
Handle requirement changes

Backup and restore

Synchronize Agent entry points
The confirmed operation synchronizes managed Codex, shared Agent, and Claude Code entries. Always inspect the preview and verify the result.
